Mission Completion!

Jay graduated from Quantico and we went to join in on the festivities! We are so proud of him (especially with the announcement that he was top in his class - good job dad!). It was neat to be able to see where he has been living for the past many months and meet some of the people we have heard so much about! Now it's back to work for Jay!

How I know it's summer.....

I guess this is just what happens with little boys, but I definitely know that summer is here because Ethan's little legs look like he has been in a fierce battle. All the running means lots of falling. You can't see all the bruises as well in the picture, but he is all bruised and scraped. And he got a black eye the other day when he ran into one of his little friends. Add to that all the bug bites (I promise I do use bug spray, but when they are swarming a few still get through!) and he just looks like a mess these days!

Swimming

My favorite thing about summer is taking Ethan swimming! He is a pretty good little swimmer and loves the water (just not when it gets in his eyes). So we had a couple of friends over for a swim date at our pool. Here are Ethan, Jane, Owen and Tia doing a lot of swimming and little bit of lounging. They had so much fun together!

Frying Pan Farm and A New Friend

So since our move (still in the DC area, we just moved a little further out), we have made some great friends in our new ward. This is one of Ethan's favorite new friends, Trey. His mom and I actually knew each other at BYU (we worked together) but we hadn't kept in touch and I didn't even know she was out here. So our first Sunday at church we ran into each other and our boys are only a few months apart in age. So we have had a lot of fun playing with them recently. We took the boys to Frying Pan Farm, which a really cute little farm and the kids can get really close to the animals. They had a blast just running around being boys.

A fun Visit from Uncle Don and Auntie Margaret

Jay's uncle and aunt were in DC for a conference and we got to hang out with them and see some of the sights. We took them to Ethan's favorite museum (the Museum of Natural History) and then ate at one of our favorite DC restaurants - Old Ebbit Grill. Then just walked around the mall a little and saw the White House. It was a great visit and we can't wait to see them again in Utah for the big wedding (JR's sister, Courtney!) By the way, yes that is a cockroach Jay is holding. A Madagascar Hissing Cockroach to be exact. I wasn't going near the thing, but Ethan thought it was pretty cool. Jay later admitted he was little grossed out to be holding it.

Surprise Baby Shower

My friends had a surprise joint baby shower for me and one of my other friends who is also having her 2nd little one. It was such a shocker. I showed up for a girls night, and there were all kinds of gifts and cute little pink onesies hanging around! It was so sweet of them and I had a great time. I am just so excited about the cute little girls clothes I got! I can't wait to see them on this little one! Thanks again Kristy and Alison for planning this!

Strawberry Picking

Last year we went raspberry picking, and this year I wanted to do more fruit picking, so we went for strawberries.  Ethan has a lot of fun. He did good for the first 10 minutes helping mom, then quickly realized it was more fun to squish the strawberries and rub them on his shirt than to put them in the basket.  Then decided to leave poor prego mom to do the picking all alone and chase his best friends, Tyler and JP around the rest of the time!  He was a mess and was exhausted by the end of the day, but had a blast and even helped mom make freezer jam the next day!  We can't wait for blueberries and raspberries!  Doesn't he look happy to be taking a picture with mom!
